Something New for Me

Well tonights blog is a little more about what I have been up-to, then my normal focus on Neo Community work, I went on my first online global zoom meeting this evening, the # GIW2020 | Art of Change,

I was really apprehensive to join such a conversation, but also really interested to hear from progressive thinkers, from across the globe; and I was not disappointed at-all.

It was really enlightening listening to; change resilience and the influences people find on them or are used to encourage and empower others. Whilst we are in the middle of a world wide pandemic I think we are seeing so much more community lead change and action and I think it is important to as much as record and look at the issues we are all facing and the possible mistakes that have been made as it is to record and learn from the positives that are coming from this time and the sense of community, so many more people are finding themselves part of at the moment.

I feel people are finding themselves, reminding themselves we are all parts of so many communities at so many levels and that everyone of us has the ability to change something however small or insignificant it seems, we all make up a piece of the puzzle some pieces may be tiny others big some make the background or one of the many blue pieces of sky and some are part of the centre focus of the picture but with just one missing nothing is ever complete.

Just a little note from my day.

  • What do we collectively know about making social change in the world?
  • What theories of change do we hold? How does social change happen?
  • How do we know if a system is ripe for change?
  • Why does change so often fail?
  • What are the obstacles to change we have faced?
  • What strategies and tactics for social change are we optimistic about?
  • Is social change an art or are there patterns and mechanics we can learn from?
  • How is this current crisis transforming our identities as change-makers?

  1. Feeling optimistic about making a more sustainable life for my family growing our own fruit and veg and sharing with our community. Realising that material things dont matter we matter and our community matters and looking after each other.
